After already soaring through 2021 with the release of three successful singles 'View', 'Time' & 'Trash'. DROVES return with their next instalment, an eerie cold-wave anthem called 'Bloodline'.
The five piece, made up of Phillip Spiteri, Taylor McAuliffe, Kyneisha Murray, Jonathan McKenzie and Tiernan Browne, draw inspiration from their own lives as well as concepts of dystopian futures, technology, modernity and mortality. The band's last single 'Trash' was an instant hit, scoring spins on community radio, triple j and rage, and even landed on Spotify's Local Noise playlist.
Phillip says that 'Bloodline' has been a catharsis for him emotionally, following the death of a close family member and the resulting disfunction of a life post loss. He says "there’s something cathartic about singing things you’re too afraid to say. As soon as you sing a song about it you can step away"
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Sydney's The Brain Studios by Clayton Segelov and Angie Watson. 'Bloodline' is the final instalment from their mixtape called 'Archives' which the band are releasing parallel to a six-track 'Self Titled' EP that will be out this August.
